Tucson Desert Harmony Pulls Out
All The Stops!
What: As reigning regional Gold Medal champions
for 2008, Tucson Desert Harmony, a chorus of fun and talented women
singing in a capella style, engages professional coaches in
preparation for their debut at International Competition, Nashville,
TN October 2009.
When and Where: Weekly Practice, Tues,
6:30PM – 9:30PM, World Care Center, Tucson
INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION, October 23-25,
Nashville, TN.
Seeking: New members and sponsors to help
them achieve their goals!
Details: Engaging three (3) highly respected coaches (one from
Tucson) from the world of Sweet Adelines are helping to raise Tucson
Desert Harmony (TDH) to a higher level of competence for meeting the
world’s toughest choral singing competition representing the entire
Southwest Region.
Their coaches include:

Sylvia Alsbury, Tucson . With degrees in music
education, Sylvia is:
Certified Music Arranger, Showmanship and Music Judge, Master
Director, International Faculty Member. Travels the world coaching and
mentoring admiring singers.

Shirley Kout, CA., Coaches individuals in vocal
techniques, teaches in music schools and international music
symposiums. Certified Master Director, Sound and Music Judge,
International Faculty member and Vocal Coach
Lynn Smith, CA. Certified Master Director, International Faculty
Member and International Choreographer and Educator. Also coaches USA
Olympic Synchronized Swimming Team.
In preparation for getting 60+ women to Nashville,
the chorus raises money through:

Singing engagements in the community (La
Encantada’s Holiday “Snowfalls”),

Achieving donations or sponsors from the community
In giving to the community, TDH donates money and
time to youth in the community:

Co-Sponsors and organizes a successful annual
Youth In Harmony Festival, scheduled Sept 19, 2009 for 200+ music
students

Annual show encourages music in the schools with a
student “Sing for Scholarship” opportunity
-
Works with music departments in several Junior and
High schools to coach students in their music. The chorus underwrites
supplies when needed.
