Tucson Desert Harmony, a local chapter of Sweet Adelines International
(SAI), has successfully built an award-winning women’ s chorus in
Tucson. Our chorus competes annually
with other choruses throughout a four-state region that includes West
Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and Southern California.
Since 1986 Tucson Desert Harmony has provided musical training for
small groups that form quartets and double quartets and prepares them
to perform locally and in competition. In the past five years, Tucson
Desert Harmony chorus has improved our scores every year, finally
winning first place in 2008 and earning an invitation to compete on a
worldwide stage at SAI Convention in Nashville, TN, in October 2009.
Two quartets with members from Tucson Desert Harmony have competed
internationally. “Sparx”, ranked 12th internationally, features Dayle
Ann Cook, Director of Tucson Desert Harmony, as Lead. “One Voice”,
with Karen Meade, Assistant Director of Tucson Desert Harmony, as Bass
was 2007 Regional Championship Quartet.
